- Emerging markets are projected to account for two-thirds of the world’s output by 2013.
- The 4 most populous emerging markets today are China, India, Indonesia, and Brazil
- Consumer spend by emerging markets’ middle class will surpass Western markets’ spend in a few decades
- Globally, the size of the middle class may increase from 1.8 billion to 3.2 billion by 20120
- 85% of the above growth will come from Asia
- North America spends $149.4 billion on traditional advertising, but only $29.3 billion on digital advertising
- Digital ad spending is growing faster than any other medium at an average annual rate of 14%
- Globally there are over 5.3 billion mobile subscriptions, or 77% of the world’s population
- The countries with the highest mobile penetration are Vietnam (175.3%) and Russia (164%)
- The United States’ mobile penetration is 90%
