We recently took the Interclue Firefox add-on for a test drive, which is a nifty plug-in that shows a preview of a web page before you click a link to open it. Once installed in Firefox, simply hover your mouse over any link to show the Linkclue icon. Often the icon is pulled from the custom favicon found on many websites. In the example below, the Linkclue icon is our site’s purple lightbulb favicon.
Simply click on the Linkclue icon to see a preview of the linked page. Below is an Interclue preview of the Web Ad.vantage website. Icons along the top allow you to browse from link to link and share the link with others. The right column shows a thumbnail image of the site (via thumbshots), RSS feeds, page stats and more - all highly customizable.
During our testing the Interclue add-on worked very well in Firefox 3.0.11 with no noticeable change in speed or performance. It’s a useful tool for any power web surfers to add to their toolbox! At Web Ad.vantage, a large part of our day is spent researching on the Web, so we’re always on the lookout for anything that makes our online lives a little easier!
More information can be found at the Interclue website, the Interclue tutorial and the Firefox add-on page.
