The Intern position at Web Ad.vantage provides the opportunity for entry-level experience to be gained in the field of digital business and marketing. The Intern’s role will allow for learning and exposure to the various services Web Ad.vantage offers, including digital strategy and consulting, search marketing, online advertising, social media marketing, web site analytics analysis and social media marketing. The Intern will shadow company employees as well as work on projects independently. Typical daily duties will include but not be limited to assisting with day-to-day support tasks and office management functions such as performing company and/or client online research, campaign reporting, company marketing and business development, answering phones, filing, database updates, social media execution and minor website edits and updates. This is an excellent opportunity to “learn the ropes” within a smaller, locally-based digitally-oriented company. An open mind and eagerness to learn and “pitch-in” are a must.

Eligibility
- Internships are available for current college seniors and recent graduates. Interns are not required to be majors in any specific subject, but all applicants must demonstrate convincingly their interest and pursuit of a career in digital business.
Duties & Responsibilities
At any given time, the Intern may be working on any number of company or client-related tasks. The following overviews the duties and responsibilities the Intern may be asked to learn and perform:
- Assisting in the production and delivery of various types of client reports. Solid knowledge of Access, Excel, Word, Internet and email will be required for this task
- Assisting with online research for media buying, keywords for Search Engine Optimization and Pay Per Click services, and occasionally for articles written by the company president
- Assisting account managers in general work to deliver client services
- Learning Pay Per Click & SEO Campaign Set-Up & Reporting
- Social Media Marketing Assistance. Researching and helping to communicate with social media (bloggers, social networks, community sites) on behalf of our company and/or our clients
- Assisting with company Marketing. Research, blog writing, press release assistance, and other tasks assigned by marketing team
- Prospecting assistance including researching external prospect databases, internal database organization and data entry, outbound prospect calls/emails and proposal/service agreement development
- Creating and maintaining databases including the company’s online media database, contacts database, prospects database and others
- Making minor website edits or updates where needed through the WordPress content management system. Includes the updating of news, press releases, articles written by the president, and speaking engagements
- Producing or updating company marketing kits/sales decks, product documents, process documents and other internal administrative documents
- Research for client and /or company competitors, new technologies, strategic partners, prospects
- Answering inbound telephone calls in a friendly and pleasant manner. Pre-screening all calls. Pre-qualifying calls from potential new clients and gathering initial information. Taking phone messages.
- Filing &/or printing out/clipping articles, magazines, marketing materials, prospect information, and any other type of information that needs to be kept on the company premises
- Administrative functions such as scanning &/or faxing docs, helping agency president organize her days, booking travel, postal mailings, coordinating food and beverage for staff meetings, birthday and/or holiday celebrations
Required Skills
- Courtesy; pleasant disposition & demeanor; good telephone etiquette
- Organization; able to handle multiple responsibilities at one time yet still get assignments completed in a timely basis
- Email Fluency – must know how to properly compose and send emails and email replies. All rules of “Netiquette” apply.
- Internet Fluency – must know how to surf the Internet, conduct online research and have familiarity with search engines and social media sites.
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience in Access a plus – ability to produce and manipulate databases, insert charts & graphs, do mail merges, create tables, hyperlinks, bookmarks and insert graphics, among other fluency skills.
- High level of verbal & written communication skills – strong communication skills a must; previous writing experience helpful; repeated errors in composition are not acceptable; duties will require light proofreading as well.

Compensation
College credit is offered dependent on individual need. Free parking is provided. Interns are not entitled to other benefits, such as insurance or paid vacation.
