Unless you’re a nationally-recognized company, you cannot assume that people are going to have an understanding of your company and what you do. People visiting your web site need to feel comfortable with you, get a sense of your company’s mission, marketplace and expertise. You need to create some sort of identification with them to which they can respond. You cannot overlook the importance of an “About Us” section in your site.

What do you include? Your location, for starters. Where are you located geographically in case someone wants to connect with you in person? Addresses and telephone numbers are also pertinent details that often get overlooked. They help develop a sense of trust and credibility, and prove that you’re not just a fly-by night operation.

Also, show a photo of yourself, your principals, or your office so visitors can fix you in real time and space. Personalize it with special interests, company history, or unique solutions your company has worked on.
