Anne Holland, founder and president of MarketingSherpa, has announced that her company is being acquired by MEC Lab Groups of Atlantic Beach, Florida. MarketingSherpa, an Internet marketing and research resource and event company, was founded in 2000. Its company headquarters is located in Warren, Rhode Island.
MarketingSherpa operations will continue as usual. The company will now be able to leverage the testing resources of MEC Lab Groups to conduct additional marketing research and experiments.
I am particularly proud to be posting this news. Back when my company was also just getting started, a colleague who knew both Anne Holland and me felt we should be introduced. Anne lived in Washington, D.C. and I lived outside Baltimore. We first talked by email, then by phone, and then we got together in person. This was back in the day when everyone was too busy building web sites to really think about Internet marketing. It was wonderful to have a kindred spirit solely focused on online marketing.
Anne’s vision for MarketingSherpa was very clear from the get-go: she felt that MarketingSherpa would be filling a void. There were web sites that provided information and how-to’s, but really none that featured real world case studies, but because of Anne’s previous work experience in the publishing world, she knew how valuable case study information would be.
And so, after surviving the dot com boom and bust (much like my company)and I’m guessing multiple acquisition proposals, Anne has finally found the right suitor. As someone who knew her then and now, I couldn’t be more happy or proud for a colleague. Hats off to you, Anne!!
