Hollis Thomases Wins Bush Declaration Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit

Hollis Thomases, president of WebAdvantage.net, a marketing agency that creates and implements measurable Internet advertising and promotional strategies, is the sole recipient of the 2nd Annual Bush Declaration Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit. Named after the 1775 Bush Declaration, the first known written declaration of independence in which the signatories declared their independence from Britain “at great risk of their lives and fortunes,” the Bush Declaration Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit honors Harford County individuals who “strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment, who excel in their chosen business, have devoted time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and who also open paths so that others may follow.”

Selected from a field of five finalists, Hollis Thomases’ selection was announced at the Small Business Summit 2002 organized by the Small Business Development Center, Northern Maryland Region. Ms. Thomases was nominated by Andrea Kedzia, Vice President, Small Business Banking of Bank of America. “I am truly honored to have been selected to receive such a prestigious award,” said Hollis Thomases, president of WebAdvantage.net. “In such tumultuous times, it’s even more special to be recognized for one’s efforts.”

The Bush Declaration Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit recipients must meet each of four specific criteria. These criteria’s are:

• Be a Harford County resident since at least October 31, 2001 AND have owned a business in Harford County at some point for more than a year;
• Explain how and why they became an entrepreneur, focusing on the risk undertaken to become independent;
• Demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative as an entrepreneur;
• Provide valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life in Harford County by inspiring and guiding others to become successful entrepreneurs.
